Olivo headed to Power Showcase in Miami

Cameron Olivo of Marlborough, N.H., who led the New Hampshire Bobcats to an 11u New England championship in in 2016, has been invited to the 11th annual World Power Showcase at Marlins Park in Miami on Dec. 27-31. The event features the most prolific amateur players from around the world and provides a center stage in front of baseball's top evaluators during a live worldwide broadcast. 

Players are selected based on ability, power, scout references and showcase tournament performances. Olivo, a power-hitting catcher and pitcher, will represent New Hampshire in the "Future Stars" Home Run Derby and 12u All-American Game. The five-day experience includes MLB Scout Day, mental strength sessions and a welcome dinner and jersey presentation ceremony. A representative from all 30 major league teams will be attending Scout Day at Marlins Park. MLB stars Kris Bryant, Bryce Harper and Anthony Rizzo have all competed in the Power Showcase. Olivo batted .492 with seven home runs, including a grand slam in the New England Elite Baseball League Division II championship.  The Bobcats posted a 21-10 overall record, including tournament championship in the Copa de Beisbol at Hooksett.
